Food & Dining

Local cuisine, flavors and produce

We are dedicated to highlighting the richness of the Arctic cuisine, its distinctive flavors, and the abundance of locally sourced ingredients. Our commitment lies in providing you with a culinary experience that celebrates the essence of each season, where fresh ingredients are meticulously prepared on a daily basis.

Here, you'll have the opportunity to savor a diverse range of dishes crafted from locally-sourced raw materials, including fish, reindeer, lamb, and more. Our menu showcases the incredible variety of flavors and traditions that our region has to offer, ensuring a truly authentic and unforgettable dining experience.

Breakfast is served family style with à la carte options, usually between 8.30am - 10am.

Lunch may be served in-house or in the outdoors, either as a gourmet picnic or we cook over an open fire. It may also be enjoyed during one of your excursions, provided by your local guide.

Dinner is served as a 3 course meal, usually between 7pm - 10pm.

Beverages are all included, with the exception of specialty premium alcohol that has not been selected in-house. As part of our commitment to providing a memorable experience, we are delighted to offer you a carefully selected range of wine, beer, and spirits as well as soft drinks, to complement your visit.

A predetermined menu can be provided upon request, however, the menu selection is typically made on the day of service to ensure the freshest offerings.

Dietary Requirements Policy

At Isbreen The Glacier, our culinary experience is built around a small, focused kitchen and the ingredients our local suppliers can reliably provide. To ensure quality, safety, and seamless experience for all guests, we operate with a daily chef’s menu based on local produce, and have limited capacity for modifications.

What we can accommodate

We are able to offer adjustments for the following dietary needs when notified in advance:

  • Vegetarian
  • Vegan
  • Gluten‑free (non‑medical)
  • Lactose‑free

Our chef will always do their best to create thoughtful alternatives within the framework of the day’s menu.

What we unfortunately cannot accommodate

Due to the size of our kitchen, the nature of our concept, and the limitations of our suppliers, we are not able to safely cater to:

  • Severe or life‑threatening allergies (including cross‑contamination risk)
  • Requests requiring allergen‑free preparation areas
  • Highly restrictive or specialized diets (e.g., keto, FODMAP, raw, plant-based, etc.)
  • Custom dishes outside the daily chef’s menu

We cannot guarantee an allergen‑free environment under any circumstances.

Advance notice, essential information, and our right to decline

All dietary requirements must be communicated at the time of request, including all essential and relevant details. This allows us to assess whether we can safely and realistically accommodate the request, and in some cases, we may need to decline.

Requests submitted after booking — especially in the days immediately before arrival or after arrival — will likely be impossible to accommodate due to our remote location and limited access to specialty ingredients. Missing or incomplete information provided too late may therefore result in the request not being catered for.

Supplier limitations (activities and excursions)

For guests joining activities or excursions arranged through our external partners, it is important to note that these suppliers operate in remote outdoor environments with very limited facilities and resources. As a result, they are only able to cater to basic dietary adjustments, typically limited to:

  • Vegetarian meals
  • Lactose‑free options (non‑allergy)
  • Gluten‑free options (non‑allergy)

They are not equipped to handle severe allergies, cross‑contamination control, or specialized dietary requirements (including vegan). Meals are prepared under simple conditions, often outdoors or in mobile setups, and access to specialty products is extremely limited.

For full property buyouts

Guests booking the entire property may benefit from greater flexibility with special preferences or unique requests, as our team can plan exclusively for your group. However, this does not apply to severe or life‑threatening allergies, which we are unable to accommodate under any circumstances.

If you are considering a buyout and have specific needs, we encourage you to discuss them with us in advance.

The main building: All you need close to your igloo

Arriving at Isbreen The Glacier, you will spot our main building, a beautiful structure built in Siberian Larch, thoughtfully placed to give you the best views of the landscape while keeping privacy for the surrounding igloos.

The main building holds the property's kitchen and dining room, where you will be invited in for delectable meals enjoying spectacular views of the fjord below. The dining table can hold up to 8-10 guests, and unless you opt for a property buyout, you may enjoy your meals together with other guests.

There is also a cozy reading nook and outdoor terrace, as well as a communal bathroom, and high-speed wifi.

Kindly note that the kitchen is reserved for our staff and will be used to prepare your meals. The building also contains a small storage room with laundry facilities and a technical hub.
